Ballroom Dancing Code of Conduct

Chesterville Ballroom Dancers Group Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct has been created by the Chesterville Ballroom Dancers Group to define standards and expectations for all people participating in our organization and its activities, as well as the
consequences of not doing so. Its purpose is to ensure a positive, supportive space for everyone to learn,
practice and enjoy ballroom dance. Everyone must adhere to this Code of Conduct.

1. Respect, Consent & Personal Safety

The Chesterville Ballroom Dancers Group will not tolerate any form of harassment or abuse, and
offenders will be held accountable. Any person who feels harassed while participating in a group
activity is strongly encouraged to report it to the instructor, dance host, or person-in-charge.
 Everyone is expected to :
  •   Treat others  with courtesy and respect.
  • Apologize promptly if you bump or hurt someone.
  • Respect personal boundaries.
  • Obtain consent prior to taking any photos or video recordings.
  • If you observe safety hazards, report them immediately.

2. Hygiene & Health
  • Good hygiene is expected.
  • Avoid strong fragrances.
  • Do not come to dance if you are sick.

3. Enforcement, Authority to Act, and Consequences

Offenders will be asked to stop the disrespectful behavior immediately. Should the
behavior continue, and/or there is a concern for the safety or well-being of other people,
the group, or the environment, the offender will be asked to leave. The offender may also be
banned from attending any of the group's future classes and/or events. The incident will also
be documented, and a copy of this incident will remain on file with the Chesterville Ballroom Dancers Group. If deemed advisable or necessary, the incident will also be reported to North Dundas Township
and the Ontario Provincial Police.

Any immediate enforcement actions taken are at the sole discretion of the instructor, host or person-in-charge.
